Elective Credits for Prior Learning
General Professional Studies (GPS) students may earn general elective semester credit hours by earning a passing grade on any GPS Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Portfolio submitted in accordance with the GPS Program’s PLA Program. Any GPS PLA Portfolio that is awarded general elective semester credit will have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the GPS Program the student’s having met the learning objectives for one of the following GPS courses: GPS 1100 Communication in Professional Contexts (Foundations), GPS 1200 Teamwork in Professional Contexts (Foundations), GPS 1300 Project Coordination in Professional Contexts (Foundations), or GPS 1400 Leadership in Professional Contexts (Foundations). Unless granted an extension in writing by the GPS Program Director, students must complete all of GPS Program’s requirements connected with the submission of any GPS PLA portfolio within one year of starting the GPS Program. The maximum number of credits that may be obtained through work/life experience is 12 semester credit hours.
